Eron Lloyd is a Reading native that has been involved in efforts to improve the city for over 20 years. He graduated from Reading High and attended both RACC and Albright College, where he completed a B.A. in Economics as a Shirk Scholarship recipient. He has served in management-level positions in nonprofit and governmental organizations and is currently completing an MBA in Sustainable Business with a concentration on natural and organic resource management. He has also been trained and certified in a number of advanced specializations, including Permaculture Design, Commercial Urban Agriculture, the Natural Step, and ISO 14001. Most recently he has served in leadership positions on the Act 47 community committee and the Mayor’s poverty commission, in both cases working to address the community and economic development requirements necessary to reverse Reading’s rapid decline.

 

 

 

Permacultivate-Team-Alexis-Campbell

 

Alexis Campbell, born and raised in the Reading area, is a graduate of Muhlenberg High School. She holds a B.A. in Letters, Arts, and Sciences, a self-designed degree entitled Global Politics and Pre-Law Studies with a Human Ecological Approach. After graduating in 2006 from Pennsylvania State University, Alexis worked as a volunteer on organic farms across the United States. She trained for two years at Rodale Institute where she directly supported the C.E.O. with organizational messaging and acted as a lead team member on numerous pilot programs. As organizer of the Reading Regeneration Project, she has demonstrated leadership in engaging the community in positive action and cultural events in the City of Reading. Currently working as a Community Resource Specialist with Berks Community Action Program, Alexis works closely with the community and has established relationships with organizational and community leaders as well as businesses and public officials. She is certified in Urban Permaculture Design, Commercial Urban Agriculture, and Community and Organizational Development through Community Gardens.

Brian Twyman, MSW, is a lifelong resident of Reading. After graduating from Central Catholic in 1991, he completed a B.A. in Social Welfare from Bloomsburg University 1996 and a Masters of Social Work from Marywood University in 2005. He currently serves as a mobile therapy social worker and coordinator of the Reading School District and City of Reading recycling partnership that was initiated last year. Brian has demonstrated his leadership as VP of the RENUE project (Reading Embracing Nature in Our Urban Environment). He has volunteered at the Blacktop basketball league, The PAL/Olivets programs, and various Reading School District programs aimed at educating and supporting our city youth. Brian continues to give back to our communities by positively representing leadership in our schools and neighborhoods through community outreach and social work advocacy.

Neil Brantley has successfully handled projects of varying magnitude over the past two years while working with the Berks County Conservancy as the Urban Greening Coordinator He received his Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from Oakwood University in 1998 and then went on to Latin America to pursue public health. He completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in 2000 from Montemorelos University in Montemorelos, N.L. Mexico. Subsequently, Neil attended San Jose State University where he received a Master of City Planning (MCP) degree in 2003 and completed a one year internship with the San Francisco Planning Department. Neil, who is passionate about urban agriculture and working with disadvantaged communities, has spent the past ten years working in varied capacities providing services to inner-city populations. For the past five years, he has demonstrated his commitment toward the health and vitality of the city of Reading, where he has sat on boards and committees including the Mayor’s Litter Task Force, Reading Beautification, Inc., and City of Reading Environmental Advisory Council.
